Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI) seeks a Finance Manager to oversee the effective provision of finance administration to MEI

Full-time, Trowbridge office, with infrequent travel throughout England

MEI is a charity, committed to improving mathematics education for all. It is a leading curriculum development body for mathematics, a major provider of professional development for teachers and specialised tuition for students, and has developed extensive resources to support the teaching and learning of mathematics. MEI also plays a leading role in two government-funded programmes to support mathematics education.

MEI is seeking a finance-trained manager to contribute to the effective provision of finance and operational support to MEI, and provide support to the Finance and Administration strand leader including deputising when necessary. The job holder will be responsible for the accounting function, the provision of monthly accounts, management information and reporting and the maintenance of an effective system of internal control. The role will include line management of the small finance team, liaison with regional fund holders and occasional attendance at external meetings and conferences. The successful applicant will also be expected to liaise with insurers, legal representatives, contractors and sub-contractors and with MEI’s academic staff to support project management.

The salary range is £40k - £45k, subject to experience. A DBS disclosure will be requested for the successful applicant.

Contract: 1 year, with possibility of extension.
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs per week).

About MEI

This role involves contributing to the effective marketing of MEI’s products and services, and supporting the organisation of MEI’s events.

Job description

As part of the Business Development and Communications team, you will play a vital role in supporting marketing activities. Based at our office in Trowbridge, you will work closely with other members of staff, who will provide expertise in MEI’s work and in mathematics education. You must be self-motivated, confident and able to work on your own initiative, with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • implement planned multi-channel marketing and communication campaigns, including:
    • arranging the development, production and distribution of materials to promote MEI products and services
    • including liaison with graphic designers and printers
    • preparing and issuing direct mailings via email and post
    • preparing material for use in social media
    • writing articles for newsletters
    • liaising with MEI’s partner organisations to provide mutual marketing support
  • organise MEI’s presence at conference exhibitions and representing MEI on exhibition stands
  • maintain MEI’s marketing databases
  • gather and analyse market-related data
  • monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of MEI’s marketing initiatives
  • support the organisation of MEI’s annual conference and other events
