Strategies for teaching fractions - a free live online professional development session for tutors and lecturers of post-16 students who are working towards resitting GCSE Mathematics

16:00 - 16:45 Tuesday 15 October

Supporting older students as they prepare for their GCSE resit examination presents many challenges; however a mathematics qualification is important for so many young people and their goals for the future.

In this short online session we will take a look at a range of successful teaching strategies for a key area of GCSE mathematics: Fractions.

The session will include:

  • active participation in some mathematical thinking
  • reflecting upon effective teaching approaches
  • ideas that can be immediately used in the classroom with your students

This free session provides a taste of the professional development courses for teachers of mathematics provided by Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI), a national charity that supports mathematics education.

If you would like to take part, please register at http://tinyurl.com/teachingfractions.

Details of MEI's professional development courses can be viewed at www.mei.org.uk/cpd.
