Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarship Application Round 4 open until 28 April 2014

Chris Rath recalls the day Mathematics suddenly “mattered more to me than any other subject”. He hopes his passion will be infectious, as he wants “to inspire future generations in the same way my maths teacher inspired me”. Chris successfully applied for a Maths Teacher Training Scholarship – which brings with it £25,000 tax free paid in instalments during his training year. He's become part of a community of Scholars and gains two year’s free membership of professional bodies (including MEI) with access to resources (including MEI's Integral online resources) and much more.

Chris has a vision of teaching that encompasses problem solving, pattern spotting and task‐based strategies, and a balance between both IT skills and manual fluency. MEI knows Chris from his previous work in the Educational Technology division of Texas Instruments and we wish him much success in his new chosen career. Over 10% of Maths Scholars currently undergoing teacher training have already been offered teaching jobs from next September. Visit the Existing Scholars page to find out more about Chris and some of the other scholars.

Do please tell anyone you know who is considering applying to train to teach maths in England that Application Round 4 opened on March 10 and closes 9am 28 April 2014. See the Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarships page on the IMA website for further details and how to apply.
