First London Schools’ Excellence Fund Mathematical Problem Solving Conference announced

The first London Schools’ Excellence Fund Mathematical Problem Solving Conference will be held at Birkbeck, University of London, 43 Gordon Square on Wednesday 9th July 2014. This conference is free to any state funded school in the Greater London area.

This conference aims to provide Key Stage 4 and AS/A level teachers with ideas and resources to help embed problem solving into their day to day teaching.

  • Modelling in AS/A Level Mathematics Lessons
  • Using ICT to Solve Mathematical Problems in the Classroom
  • Problem Solving in the STEP and AEA Examinations
  • Critical Mathematics
  • Mathematical Problem Solving in Other Subjects at A Level
  • Using Groupwork in Problem Solving
  • The Pedagogy of Problem Solving

The keynote speaker will be Malcolm Swan who will be talking about improving concept development and problem solving.
