Completing GCSE, AS and A level reform

Posted: 27/03/2015

Ofqual has published its response to the consultation on 'Completing GCSE, AS and A level Reform'. It can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/gcses-as-and-a-levels-new-subjects-to-be-taught-in-2015

Ofqual considers that appropriate content requirements could be developed in, among other subjects, GCSE Statistics; AS and A level Statistics; AS and A level Quantitative Methods, and exam boards will start on drafting content requirements for these subjects. If Ofqual's conditions can be met, these subjects may be available for first teaching in September 2017.

AS and A level Pure Mathematics, and AS Use of Mathematics, will not be reformed; the last cohort of students taking these subjects will begin their studies in September 2016.

MEI's response to the initial consultation can be found here http://mei.org.uk/archive?section=news&page=archive&newsid=474
