Teaching Introduction to Quantitative Methods CPD

This one-day course will introduce teachers to teaching ideas and resources for the MEI(OCR) Introduction to Quantitative Methods course.   It is also suitable for early adopters of the OCR Core Maths qualifications.  .

 

Aims

  • To help teachers to familiarise themselves with the subject content of the Introduction to Quantitative Methods and the links between different areas of content
  • To provide an introduction to some useful resources for teaching the Introduction to Quantitative Methods
  • To show how ICT can be used in promoting student understanding

 

Course Programme

This one day course is a repeat of the training offered on Friday 27 June 2014 at the MEI conference in Keele.

It will consist of the following four sessions.

  • IQM: Modelling and estimation 
  • IQM: Probability and risk
  • IQM: Financial problem solving 
  • IQM: Statistical problem solving

 

Participants

This course is aimed at teachers preparing to teach either the Introduction to Quantitative Methods unit or one of the OCR(MEI) Core Maths qualifications.  The day is suitable both for specialist and non-specialist teachers of mathematics and statistics post GCSE.
