Making Sense of Maths: Author Interview Videos

This series will motivate, engage and develop the conceptual understanding of students at KS3 and KS4. Students build their own problem solving strategies based on their understanding of the world around them which then support them to tackle functional questions. The Student's Book, used in conjunction with the workbook and teachers' book, provides engaging activities that support students in developing a true understanding of representing, analysing and interpreting data. The titles in the series tackle individual topics, so you can integrate Making Sense of Maths into your current teaching and focus on problem areas.

These resources have been developed by a team from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and MEI, and are based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach, which is the result of over 30 years of research and is currently being used to great success internationally and around the UK.

Formula One Maths

Series Editor: Roger Porkess

Formula One Maths is a unique and carefully structured course designed especially for students in Years 7-9, working around Levels 2-5. Written by specialist authors, the textbooks present mathematics in contexts appropriate for 11-14 year olds. Clear explanations and 'activity rich' pages engage pupils' interest and focus them on the task, with brief and easy to read text. Not all of the books in this series are still available, but you may be obtain some through the links below.

The higher numbered books were designed for more talented students, each book being supported by a Practice book and by an extensive Teacher's Resource. Each Teacher's Pack contains a general introduction to the course, guidance and suggestions for using ICT in the classroom, and provides time-saving material for both experienced and non-specialist teachers, along with answers to the Pupil's Book exercises. Also included is a beginning of year test to enable teachers to assess the level of their pupils.

Formula One Maths Gold Euro Edition was designed for use as a stand-alone course or to underpin the main Formula One Maths course. All the material in these packs is also provided on CD-ROM; many of the photocopiable sheets are editable so that they can be customised according to different pupils' needs.
