COURSE OVERVIEW
Designed for students to consolidate and develop maths skills whilst they spend a year in industry prior to university entry.
In partnership with EDT Placements to provide a maths course for our placed pre-university students. The course aims to enable students to revise and keep their maths skills sharp whilst away from academia, and to also further develop their maths skills by learning some new aspects of maths they may not have covered at A level or equivalent.
What topics are covered?
- Matrices (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 6 December)
- Differentiation (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 10 January)
- Vectors (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 14 February)
- Integration (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 14 March)
- Functions of several variables (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 18 April)
- Complex numbers (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 16 May)
- Ordinary differential equations (on-screen test to be completed by Sunday, 13 June)
Students will be supported in their independent study via a forum that is moderated by a tutor. To successfully complete the course, students must complete on-screen tests to be taken by the middle of each month throughout the course. Extensive notes and exercises with worked solutions are provided to prepare for the on-screen tests.
All students who complete the course will be rewarded with a completion certificate.

All modules will be accessed via MEI’s Integral Learning Platform.

The course is £90 for all students.
If a student joins the course and decides it’s not for them then after up to one month, MEI can refund the cost of the course.
*(NB: EDT does not cover this cost and there is no obligation or expectation that the cost should be covered by your placement company)
