Programme Overview

The Further Education Maths CPD programme is an extensive professional development programme designed for teachers of students aged 16-19 years who are working towards achieving grade 4, level 2 pass, or higher by resitting GCSE Mathematics or studying Functional Skills Maths.

The programme is funded by the Department for Education and delivered by a dedicated team of maths specialists who have experience in teaching and managing mathematics in Further Education settings.

Half-termly online sessions for teachers and leaders exploring practical, inclusive strategies to help every student thrive.

Our events bring together Further Education maths practitioners, managers, and leaders to explore timely topics that follow the rhythm of the FE academic year. Each session is framed around a key student-focused question and shares evidence-informed strategies, resources and real examples you can use straight away.

Inclusivity is at the heart of every event, with approaches designed for diverse classrooms and the varied needs of learners, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with SEND.

These free, DfE-funded sessions also include time for networking, giving you the chance to connect with colleagues, share experiences and learn from different approaches across the sector. Join any or all events that match your priorities and availability.

All elements on offer are free to teachers within further education settings in England who enrol students under the government’s Condition of Funding Policy.

You need to be a teacher in a post-16 setting in England that enrols students onto full-time study programmes under the Condition of Funding policy. This includes:

  • Further education colleges
  • Sixth form colleges
  • Art, design and performing arts colleges
  • Land-based colleges
  • Specialist designated college
