Maths Mastery in an Adult Setting Overview

Our Maths Mastery in an Adult Setting course focuses on the pedagogy of maths mastery aimed at teachers working within an adult setting. It covers all the key ingredients of teaching, learning and assessment needed to deliver the adult functional skills maths and GCSE maths curriculum.

The whole course has been wonderful and has really shown me that teaching maths can be fun, engaging and not necessarily scary. Loved how multi-sensory many if the resources were.

Aims of the Course

• Develop an understanding of the expectations of the adult maths curriculum.
• Explore the needs of the learner and how to maximise opportunities for maths mastery.
• Learn about the principles of effective pedagogy for developing learners’ skills, including number sense, reasoning, fluency and problem-solving.
• Apply mastery techniques to support maths in everyday contexts.
