Going Deeper with Primary Maths: Elegant solutions and making connections

Teaching for Mastery
We work alongside the NCETM to offer support to teachers for mastery.
Mastering maths means students of all ages acquire a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject.

Key Stage 2-3 Transition
The transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 maths can be a big jump for a lot of students. We have created a range of resources to help you support your students at this important time.
Transition Webinars for Teachers
We understand that keeping Year 6 pupils motivated in their maths learning during the transition to Year 7 can be challenging.
We have created a range of free pre-recorded webinars that offer extra support for you in helping your Year 6 class as they make this journey from Year 6 to Year 7. The webinars also support Key Stage 3 teachers to understand how these areas of maths have been approached in Key Stage 2.
Year 6 Get Calculating! Lesson Plans
The Year 6 lessons allow students to explore areas of maths that they will continue to study when they move to Key Stage 3. The lessons offer the opportunity to become more familiar with the use of resources such as protractors, compasses and, where appropriate and possible, calculators. The Year 6 lessons have matched Year 7 lessons, which pick up and develop the same area of the maths curriculum.
Year 7 Get Calculating! Lesson Plans
The Year 7 lessons build on the lessons written for Year 6, but can be used without having worked on the Year 6 content. They develop mathematical concepts and approaches started in upper Key Stage 2, using language and representations that would be familiar to a student moving from Year 6 to Year 7. Again, the lessons offer the opportunity to become more familiar with the use of protractors, compasses and calculators.
Calculator Crunch
Our popular Calculator Crunch challenge has been running since 2018. It is aimed at pupils in Years 6 and 7 and offers engaging puzzles through which students can explore different areas of maths, deepen their understanding and learn about effective use of a calculator.
Calculator Crunch is a great resource for teachers to use within the classroom and can also be used by parents and carers with their children at home.
Calculator Crunch is normally held during the summer term, around the second week of June. Keep an eye on the website and our social media channels for further information.
