• A level Mathematics entries are up from 95,635 to 96,853, an increase of 1.3%.  
• A level Further Mathematics numbers are down from 15,146 to 15,080, a decrease of 0.4%.  
• Total entries for A levels increased from 848,910 to 867,658, an increase of 2.2%.  
• A level Mathematics entries as a proportion of the total A level entries decreased from 11.3% to 11.2%.   
• A level Further Mathematics entries as a proportion of the total A level entries decreased from 1.8% to 1.7%.  

AS level  

• AS level Mathematics numbers are up from 15,489 to 16,844, an increase of 8.7%.  
• AS level Further Mathematics numbers are up from 4,056 to 5,334, an increase of 31.5%.  
• Total entries for AS levels increased from 135,397 to 141,096, an increase of 4.2%.  
• AS level Mathematics entries as a proportion of the total AS level entries increased from 11.4% to 11.9%.   
• AS level Further Mathematics entries as a proportion of the total AS level entries increased from 3.0% to 3.8%.

• Percentage of A level Further Mathematics entrants who were female remained at 28.1%.  
• For A level Mathematics, in 2023, 42.5% of male entrants and 40.9% of female entrants achieved grades A*-A, compared to 48.0% and 48.5% respectively in 2022, and 42.1% and 39.1% respectively in 2019.   
• For A level Further Mathematics, in 2023, 59.7% of male entrants and 55.4% of female entrants achieved grades A*-A, compared to 68.7% and 65.4% respectively in 2022 and 54.5% and 51.0% respectively in 2019.
