Schools are invited to apply for the Casio graphical calculators pilot to support AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics

Be part of our pilot to receive a set of graphical calculators from Casio next academic year.

Casio Education

Secondary schools teaching AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics in 2026-27 can be part of a year-long pilot offering resources, professional development and a loan of Casio’s graphical calculators to support students and teachers.

Casio, in partnership with MEI, are giving schools the chance to secure the loan of a full class set of the latest graphical calculators for the academic year 2026-27. Teachers will be supported in using the calculators through specially designed resources and professional development from MEI. Eligible schools will be those teaching AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics.

What does the pilot involve?

Successful schools will receive a set of graphical calculators from Casio, on loan for a year. The calculators are intended for use with classes studying for the AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics qualification, with the cohort taking the exam in summer 2027.

As well as the calculators, schools will receive access to specially designed resources. Teachers will also be able to access professional development, including attending a full day of face-to-face professional development led by MEI, taking place in July 2026.

Be part of our pilot to receive a set of graphical calculators from Casio next academic year.

The pilot is designed to explore the benefits for students of having access to a graphical calculator while studying and being examined on AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics, and to give more students access to graphing technology. Schools that have previously taught the qualification will be preferred in the application process, as they can compare previous years’ results.

The pilot is at no cost to participant schools, but the teacher teaching the qualification will be required to complete a survey during and after the pilot to assess students’ understanding, engagement and enjoyment of the qualification. Attendance at the professional development day is also compulsory; a bursary is available to help with travel and cover costs.

Who can apply?

The pilot is open to:

  • 11-16 and 11-18 schools
  • State-funded and independent schools
  • Secondary schools in any UK location and any context.

We are keen to involve a diverse range of schools, so whatever your school’s setting, we are interested to hear from you. Preference will be given to schools already teaching AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics.

How can schools apply?

A teacher from the school should complete the online application form. Schools will be asked to share details of their current and future teaching plans for AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics, and details of how and when the qualification is taught. A senior leader’s name and contact details will also be required.

What is the timeline?

Interested schools should complete the online form by 15 May 2026. Successful schools will be informed by the end of June 2026, and the professional development day for teachers will take place in London in July 2026. Calculators will be supplied from September 2026 to July 2027.
