Year 6 Get Calculating! lesson plan

A lesson for Year 6 pupils to familiarise themselves with the key features of calculators and encourage appropriate and effective use.

The activities can be used in isolation or as a whole lesson. A PowerPoint to support the activities is also available.

The lesson contains a starter activity to get pupils used to entering numbers and that it is a good idea to repeat calculations to ensure that answers are reasonable and accurate. The main lesson encompasses a series of three further activities which broaden the range of functions used and involve different aspects of mathematical reasoning
