Subsidies and Bursaries

Trainee and early career teacher discounts

You may be eligible for a discount if you are a full-time student (undergraduate and postgraduate), in initial teacher training, or an early career teacher (ECTs).

To qualify, you must provide a signed letter on headed paper from your training provider or school to confirm your status.

Please email the MEI Conference Team to apply.

Further Education Bursary

You may be eligible for a bursary if you are a teacher of Post-16 GCSE and/or Functional Skills qualification who regularly teaches maths to students aged in a 16-19 further education setting as part of the Government’s Condition of Funding Policy.

There will be 30 bursary places that will cover the conference’s full cost, excluding your travel and teacher release expenses.

To apply for the bursary please fill in the form linked below.

Science Studio Bursary

We are delighted to offer bursary places, funded by Science Studio, to school and college teachers of maths who would like to attend the MEI Conference. Applications are open to any maths teacher of a state funded school or college in the UK which hasn’t had someone from the establishment attend in the last three years.

The Bursary will cover one or two days of the conference, with or without accommodation.

The bursary does not cover any costs incurred by travel to/from the conference or cover any teacher release expenses, such as cover/supply teaching.

London Mathematical Society Bursary

To support our aim to improve social equity through access to high-quality maths education, the London Mathematical Society (LMS) has generously awarded MEI a grant to offer four bursaries of up to £400 to support teachers from minority ethnic backgrounds to attend the MEI Conference.

It’s free to apply; you just need to complete and submit the application form by noon on Friday, April 25.
