Using Technology

Functional Skills & GCSE resit

Your experience of teaching online during the Covid-19 pandemic may have given you an appetite to make more use of technology in the classroom.

There’s a plethora of technological resources available. Some of the best are tools that provide dynamic imagery such as Autograph, Desmos, and GeoGebra. Using such tools gives GCSE Mathematics resit and Functional Skills Mathematics students access to mathematical ideas in ways they may not have seen before. It can help you identify areas of difficulty and misconceptions, and can provide activities to help students to address problems that would otherwise be impractical or inefficient to tackle. Importantly, it also develops skills they may need for further study and in the workplace.

Ideally, the use of technology within the teaching, learning and assessment of maths should be fully embedded in maths teaching and learning, with all students having access to mathematical technologies throughout their study of maths.
