Overview
The EURO 2024 championship kicks off on Friday 14th June when hosts Germany play Scotland.
We will be hosting an online Kahoot quiz for KS3 students (pairs or individuals) on Wednesday 12th June as excitement builds ahead of the start of the tournament.
There will be questions testing maths knowledge, estimation skills and logical thinking. In addition, there will be a few general knowledge ones and all with the theme of the football in some shape or form.
Who will benefit from attending?
The event is aimed at all KS3 students.
Content
Mixture of skills and topics which will be expected to have been covered in KS3. It would be an expectation that Y9s may hold a slight advantage over Y7s but the quiz has been designed to be as inclusive as possible (key words explained/hints & prompts given).
Materials and equipment
Students need access to a computer, tablet or mobile device of some descript to access Kahoot.
Rough paper/mini whiteboards may be useful for some rough working out but questions have been designed in a way to be done without use of a calculator (for weaker students teachers can allow this at their discretion)
Eligibility
All state schools are encouraged to attend.
FAQs
The time does not quite work for us, can we do an alternative?
It is very hard to cater for the varying timetables of all schools. Thus, we do one live version but make the kahoot public post the event so it can be enjoyed by more teachers and students. With this event being planned for Wednesday this allows 2 more days that week for it to be used in lessons before the tournament starts.
How does it work?
Teachers will be sent a Zoom invite to join (only teachers join this). Host Tom Beech will share his screen and this can be displayed in classrooms on the main interactive board. Sound will be needed. Students then just join the quiz code displayed and hopefully have lots of fun!
