Overview
Teaching GCSE Mathematics is perfect for helping you develop your subject knowledge and classroom practice in maths at GCSE level. These sessions are ideal for those teaching GCSE maths for the first time or returning after a break, as well as those who wish to enhance their teaching.
The course delves into the main foundation topics found within Key Stage 4 maths, whilst also offering some insight into the higher-tier papers.
You will engage in complex questions and concepts common within the classroom. You will discuss strategies and pedagogical approaches for different mathematical topics that will suit students’ needs while considering different ways of thinking about the subject. The sessions will allow you to collaborate with fellow teachers by working through problems guided by our team of experts.
Aims
- Increase confidence with the subject content covered within the GCSE mathematics foundation tier.
- Learn more about the principles of effective pedagogy in mathematics teaching, with practical strategies and resources.
- Provide support with applying these principles in the classroom.
- Provide opportunities for reflection upon creating effective and engaging environments for learning mathematics.
