Overview
We are running an online course to prepare students for the MAT (Mathematics Admissions Test), the mathematical admissions test used by the University of Oxford for undergraduate admissions for Mathematics and some related degree programmes.
The MAT paper consists of 25 multiple choice questions followed by 2 long questions.
This course consists of seven one-hour online sessions which will take place in September and October. Sessions will commence the week beginning the 1st September 2025.
We also run a similar course for students who wish to prepare for the TMUA (Test of Mathematics for University Admission). Students are welcome to enrol on this course if they intend to take both examinations but there is no obligation to attend both courses.
Aims
- To introduce mathematical problems at the difficulty level of the MAT.
- To develop students' problem-solving skills so they have confidence in applying for universities that require the MAT or take it into consideration.
- To provide support for students preparing for the MAT.
Who will benefit from attending?
Students currently in Year 12, who will be going into Year 13 in September 2025.
Students who are anticipating sitting the MAT in Autumn 2025.

No further equipment is needed – communication with the course tutor during the live sessions is via the instant chat feature of the virtual classroom in which the sessions take place.Other information
