Overview
A day of workshops looking at the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Maths and the Pearson Level 2 Extended Mathematics Certificate: why you might consider running one of them as an extension course for your Year 10s or 11s; how they can be delivered in and around the school curriculum; what new maths are in the courses; what is best practice for teaching them.
The day will include suggestions for how to answer, and a chance to discuss some of the following topics:
- how can I convince the school where I work that delivering the course is worthwhile?
- what other options are there, as extension courses for Year 10s and/or Year 11s?
- how can the course be delivered, logistically?
- what topics are on the course that are not on the GCSE course?
There will be a choice of sessions covering aspects of both courses including:
- Extended GCSE Topics
- Matrices
- Calculus
- Probability
- Coordinate Geometry
- Number and Proof
- Graphs and Transformations

'Excellent delivery! Definitely the most efficient and productive training I’ve done!'
'Really great sessions. Made everything feel clear and so helpful. Loved how inclusive it felt - really accepting of various levels of experience in the room. Sometimes you can come to these sessions and leave feeling overwhelmed / stupid! But I really enjoyed all the sessions.'
