Explore the Imperial mA*ths and Further mA*ths Project

Posted on in News

Applications are open for the Imperial mA*ths and Further mA*ths courses created with Imperial College London. This suite of professional development is part of the Imperial mA*ths and Further mA*ths Programme.

The project is designed specifically for A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics teachers in state-funded schools in England. It aims to equip you with the skills necessary to help high-achieving students secure an A* in A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Programme Overview

As part of this programme, we offer a range of courses and masterclasses to help A level teachers engage in effective professional development. Throughout these sessions, we’ll explore ways to identify students with ‘A* potential’ and provide you with effective strategies to support those students aiming for top grades. You’ll also discover a range of self-study and extension resources designed to help your students excel.

Programme Structure

The project offers a blend of on-demand, online learning via MEI’s AMSP programme and in-person masterclasses at Imperial College London. To attend the masterclasses, you should first complete at least one of the on-demand courses.

You will have the option to explore A level Mathematics focussed content (mA*ths) and A level Further Mathematics content (Further mA*ths). If you feel that covering both areas would benefit your professional development, you’re welcome to participate in both courses.

On-Demand Courses

You will need to complete at least one of the on-demand courses via the AMSP website before attending the in-person masterclass in June. Each on-demand course offers content for both Year 12 and Year 13, allowing you to select the topics most relevant to your needs. To apply for the on-demand part of the course, follow the links below.

In-Person Masterclass

For an enhanced learning experience, we offer in-person masterclasses at Imperial College London on Wednesday 18 June. These days will build on the topics covered in the on-demand courses and provide further in-depth exploration with experienced MEI maths staff.

Please register your interest by filling out the form on our website, which can be found here.

Due to the way these courses are funded, these opportunities are only open to teachers from state-funded schools and colleges. Applications which do not meet this criterion will be rejected.
