On 30 June the MEI team headed to Keele University to host the first face-to-face MEI Conference in three years. We were joined by nearly 200 eager teachers who were ready to network, learn and most importantly, have fun! The conference kicked off on Thursday morning with an opening session, followed by a welcome talk from MEI’s Chief Executive Charlie Stripp and a fascinating plenary delivered by Michael Barany. Delegates then headed off to a jam-packed day of inspiring sessions, with some remarking:
“Highly informative and fun”
“THANK YOU! Fantastic, amazing, inspiring sessions”
“It was so nice to be back and the sessions were absolutely amazing”
After lunch, delegates headed over to the exhibition hall where our range of fantastic exhibitors awaited them, ready to share how their business could help in the maths classroom, as well as giving away a freebie or two!
Day 1 was wrapped up with a drinks reception, kindly sponsored by Casio, and a delicious dinner topped off with a captivating performance from poet Harry Baker.
“Great evening. Excellent food. LOVED Harry Baker!”
Day 2 was another busy day full of sessions, networking and an eye-opening plenary delivered by Susan Okereke. By the end of the day, both delegates and staff left the conference feeling exhausted but inspired, remarking:
“Overall the conference has been an amazing experience. Facilities and administration was first-class! Excellent networking opportunities. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
“1st time MEI Conference attendee and I loved it. All of it was very well executed and I will be sharing it with others and encouraging others to attend!”
“Conference was marvellous!”
We’d like to say a massive thank you to our sponsors, Casio, Science Studio, Hodder Education and OCR. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to host this fantastic professional development opportunity.
We hope we’ll be seeing you again next year for MEI Conference 2023! We’ll be returning to Keele University on 29-30 June – make sure you save the date!
