Maths Hubs

The Maths Hubs professional development programme for 2021/22 is now out, this year with 30 projects spanning Early Years to post-16, as well as programmes for teachers leading professional development and those working in school improvement. New programmes are being introduced for secondary heads of department, those that lead on maths in MATs, Early Career teachers and non-specialist teachers of maths. A useful summary can be found on pages 2 and 3 of Bespoke, also printable for putting on noticeboards. Full details of each project are at What Maths Hubs are doing | NCETM. The Maths Hubs network works closely with the AMSP on all post-16 projects.

Curriculum prioritisation for maths recovery

As well as managing the Maths Hubs programme through the pandemic, the NCETM has, this term, encouraged curriculum prioritisation across all primary schools and provided useful planning materials and guidance. This work is ongoing and promises to be even more comprehensive and easily navigable for 2021/22.

To support the process of curriculum planning and prioritisation in Key Stage 3, we have published a Sample KS3 Curriculum Framework. This will be complemented by a series of six online seminars (with Q&A) for the summer term, led by the NCETM Secondary Team, supported by Maths Hubs Mastery Specialists. Each seminar will focus on a curriculum theme and key learning to be prioritised. Maths departments are encouraged to share the sessions out amongst department staff. Secondary work on curriculum prioritisation also continues for 2021/22.

More Numberblocks materials

NCETM Numberblocks support materials, to help teachers use the popular CBeebies episodes in the classroom, have recently been expanded to include Series 3.
