Over the past two months, more than 700 teams of young mathematicians across the world have been putting their problem-solving skills to the test in a bid to become Ritangle 2021 champions!
This year, the competition was split into three stages; Stage 1 comprised of 24 questions which were released between October and December. Stage 2 began on 7 December and teams had to solve a further eight questions, before combining all their answers to construct a code which unlocked Stage 3, the final question. Reaching Stage 3 is a fantastic achievement, and we are thrilled that 216 teams from 135 schools and colleges accomplished this.
The race was then on to be the first team to submit the best answer to the final question. We received answers from 183 teams and after much deliberation from our judges, we are delighted to announce that the winners of our Ritangle 2021 competition are from Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
Congratulations to the winning team, we hope you enjoy your fantastic Ritangle prize hamper which includes a free one-year subscription to Integral!
Well done to this this year’s runners-up, a team from Royal Grammar School, Guildford, they produced some excellent work in Stage 3 of the competition.
