You will have the opportunity to engage in complex questions and concepts common within the classroom. You will discuss strategies and pedagogical approaches for different mathematical topics that will suit students’ needs while considering different ways of thinking about the subject. 

The sessions will allow you to collaborate with fellow teachers by working through problems guided by our team of experts. These sessions are ideal for those teaching GCSE maths for the first time or returning after a break as well as those who wish to enhance their teaching. 

We also offer a sister course, Teaching GCSE Mathematics: Algebra, Ratio and Probability (TGM: ARP). We do not recommend studying both courses simultaneously. However, the courses can be studied in any order.

Aims of the course

• Increase confidence with the subject content covered within the Number, Geometry and Statistics sections of the GCSE mathematics foundation tier. 
• Learn more about the principles of effective pedagogy in mathematics teaching with practical strategies and resources. 
• Provide support with applying these principles in the classroom. 
• Provide opportunities for reflection upon creating effective and engaging environments for learning mathematics.
